How do I get started with ZipDrive?

To get started,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account and click the 'Add Computer' button.

  2. Choose the operating system to download the appropriate setup on your computer. Run and install the application on your computer.
    Note: On installation, you will be prompted to enter the 'License Key'. Copy the same from the License Key section and paste it in the desktop 'Enter License Key' section. Click 'Connect'.

  3. Your computer will now appear in the 'Computers' tab, under 'Computer List'.
  4. Click the 'View Computer' button against the online computer to view and access all the files and and folders on the computer.

To go back to the computer list page from the Dashboard, click your computer name, and click 'View All'.

How do I access the files on my computer?

To access your files, sign in to your ZipDrive account, and click the 'View Computer' button against an online computer.

The Dashboard appears. The various sections include:




  • Favorites - All the files / folders that you mark as 'favorites' appear here.
  • Quick Access - All the folders that you frequently access appear here.
  • Recently Accessed - All the files that you recently accessed appear here.

Go to the particular tabs to access the respective file types on your computer:

  • My Files - All your local drives appear here
  • Documents - All your documents appear here
  • Photos - All your image files appear here
  • Videos - All your video files appear here
  • Music - All your audio files appear here
  • Archives - All your zipped folders appear here
  • Shared - All the files / folders shared by you appear here

Can I prevent access to my computers?

Yes, you can disable access to any computer, as well as enable the same anytime from the ZipDrive web interface.

To disable access,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. All your computers appear in the 'Computers' tab, under 'Computer List'. Click Setting against a computer name.
  3. Click 'Disable'. In the popup that appears click 'Disable'.

On disabling, you will not be able to access the computer online. To enable access to the computer, click the 'Enable' button against the disabled computer name

How do I remove a computer from my account?

To remove a computer from your account,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. All your computers appear in the 'Computers' tab, under 'Computer List'. Click Setting against a computer name.
  3. Click 'Remove'.

  4. In the confirmation popup that appears, click 'Remove'.

Your computer will be removed from your ZipDrive account. To add and list the computer again in your ZipDrive account, enter the License Key on the desktop application interface and click 'Connect'.

How do I rename my computer that appears in the Computer List?

To rename your computer,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. All your computers appear in the 'Computers' tab, under 'Computer List'. Click Setting against a computer name.
  3. Click 'Rename'.

  4. In the popup that appears, enter the new computer and click 'Save'.

From where can I view the data transfer limit for my account?

You can view the amount of data transmitted over an Internet connection, while accessing your computers via ZipDrive. Once you sign in to your ZipDrive account, the overall data transfer usage appears on the header of the application menu.

What file / folder operations can I perform?

Apart from viewing the files, you can perform various file / folder operations, like:

  • Share - Share files / folders with anyone via a share link
  • Download - Download and save files on your computer
  • Rename - Rename the files on your computer
  • Cut - Cut and paste the files to a different folder or location
  • Move / Copy - Move or copy the files to a different folder or location
  • Add to favorites - Mark the files that you browse often as 'favorites'
  • Delete - Delete a file or folder on your computer
  • Create new file / folder - Create and save a new file (docx, xlsx, pptx, txt) or folder on your computer
  • Upload file / folder - Upload and add files or folders to your computer

How do I rename a file / folder?

To rename a file / folder,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Navigate to the file / folder you wish to rename. Hover and click Rename.

  4. The 'Rename' popup appears. Enter a new computer name and click 'Save'.

How do I move a file / folder?

To move a file / folder,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Navigate to the file / folder you wish to move. Hover and click Move.

  4. In the popup that appears, select the location where you wish to move the file / folder. You can also search for a folder in the ‘Search’ field, or create a new folder destination.
  5. Click ‘Move’ or click ‘Copy’ to move or copy the file / folder to the destination respectively.

How do I download a file / folder from my computer?

To download a file,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Navigate to the file / folder on your computer which you wish to download. Hover and click Download.

You can view the download progress at the bottom of the screen. The file will get downloaded to the default download location of your device.

Can I delete files / folders from my computer?

Yes, you can delete files / folders from any computer which is added to your ZipDrive account.

To delete a file / folder,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Navigate to the file / folder on your computer which you wish to delete. Hover and click Delete.
  4. Click ‘Delete’ in the popup that appears.

How do I create a new folder on my computer?

To create a new folder on your computer,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. On the 'Dashboard', click the '+ New' button. In the drop down that appears, click 'New Folder'.
  4. Enter the new folder name, navigate to the location where you wish to create the new folder and click 'Create'.

Can I create MS Office files?

Yes, you can create MS Office files like Word, Excel and PowerPoint via ZipDrive and save the same on your computer.

To create a new file,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. On the 'Dashboard', click the '+ New' button. In the drop down that appears, click the file type you wish to create.
  4. Enter the new file name, navigate to the location where you wish to create the new file and click 'Create'.

You can edit and make changes to the file and it will get saved on your computer.

Can I add files to my computer?

Yes, you can add files / folders to your computer, by using the ‘Upload’ option.

To upload,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. On the 'Dashboard', click the 'Upload' button. In the drop down that appears, select the 'File' or 'Folder' option to upload respectively.

  4. Choose the files / folders you wish to upload from your device on to your computer.
  5. Navigate to the location on your computer where you wish to upload the file / folder. Click the 'Upload' button.

A progress bar will appear showing the status of your uploads.

How can I play music or video?

Stream the entire media collection located on your computers, from wherever you are.

To play an audio / video file,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Go to the 'Videos' / 'Music' tab, to view all the respective audio and video files.

  4. Click a particular audio or video file to play the same respectively.

Can I search through files on my computer?

Yes, you can search through all the files and folders present on your computers, via the ZipDrive web interface.

To search within one computer,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the 'View Computer' button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Enter the keyword / name in the search field on the Dashboard and click enter to view all the matches to the search criteria within the computer you are accessing.

To search across multiple computers,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Select the online computer that you want to access and click ‘View Computer’.
  3. Enter the keyword / name in the search field on the Dashboard and select ‘All Computers’.
  4. Click enter to view all the matches to the search criteria across all the computers in your account.

What functions can I perform in the Photos tab?

All the photos on your computer will be available in the 'Photos' tab of your ZipDrive account. You can perform functions like rotate photos, download, delete, share externally, etc.

Where can I view all the zipped files located on my computer?

All the zipped files located on your computer can be viewed from the 'Archives' tab of your ZipDrive account.



Can I access any external or mapped drives via ZipDrive?

Once you connect to an online computer via ZipDrive, you can also browse the files / folders on all the mapped drives and connected external drives. Also perform functions like streaming music / videos, sharing files as well as uploading files / folders to the drives. The external drives must be available at the time of access.

How can I share files / folders from my account?

You can share the files and folders on your computer from your ZipDrive account.

To share files / folders,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the ‘View Computer’ button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Navigate to the file / folder you wish to share. Hover over the same and click Share.
  4. The ‘Share’ popup appears with a share link. Enter the email addresses of the recipients and set a password (optional).



  5. Note: If you set a password, the same will be shared with the recipients via email.

  6. Set the share permissions:
    • 'Can edit' - The recipient will be able to edit the shared files online.
    • 'Can view' - The recipient will be able to view the shared files online.
    • Link will expire in - The share link expiration can be set to 'Never', 1/7/30 days.
  7. Click 'Done'.

Where can I view all the files and folders shared from my computer?

To view all your shared files / folders,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the ‘View Computer’ button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Go to the ‘Shared’ tab. All the files shared from your computer via ZipDrive will be displayed with details like file / folder name, date when the file / folder was shared, file / folder size and the share link expiration timeline.

Can I unshare the files / folders that I have already shared?

Yes, you can unshare the files / folders after you have already shared the same with your associates.

To unshare,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Click the ‘View Computer’ button appearing against an online computer name.
  3. Go to the 'Shared' tab. All the files shared from your computer via ZipDrive will be displayed.

  4. Click Unshare against a particular file / folder name to unshare the same.
  5. Click ‘Yes’ in the confirmation popup that appears.

Can I add users to my account?

Yes, you can invite and add users to your ZipDrive account.

To add users,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Go to the 'User Management' tab and click 'Add User'.

  3. Enter the user email address in the 'Email Address' field, and click 'Invite'.
    Note: You can enter up to 20 email addresses, separated by commas.

The invited user will get an email with the link to register to ZipDrive. Once the user registers, they will be added to your account. All the added users appear in the ‘Users’ tab.

How do I remove users from my account?

To remove users,

  1. Sign in to your ZipDrive account.
  2. Go to the 'User Management' tab to view all the added users.
  3. To remove a particular user, hover over the same and click .

  4. Click 'Remove' in the confirmation popup that appears.

To reactivate users,

  1. In the 'User Management' tab, click Unshare.

  2. Click 'Reactivate' against the user account you wish to reactivate.
